“The 18-month program will immerse 100 talented young men and women at ADDC, AADC, TRANSCO and AMPC”

Abu Dhabi, 10 October 2019: A number of water and electricity companies in Abu Dhabi have jointly announced the launch of a training and development program for 100 young Emirati University Graduates, to begin in November.

The “Graduate Training Program” was formed in a collaborative effort between Abu Dhabi Power Corporation’s (ADPower) subsidiaries: Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC), Al Ain Distribution Company (AADC), Abu Dhabi Transmission and Despatch Company (TRANSCO) and Mirfa Power Company (AMPC).

The 18-month program, divided into 2 phases, will offer leadership competency building, management skills and technical development through various interactive training techniques and experiences.

The first phase of the program, is a 6-month introduction to the utility sector; building modern workplace professional skills in a series of practical training modules including visits to the participating companies, in addition to an international training opportunity at a leading global water and electricity company. Graduates will also be engaged in relevant community activities with a focus on environmental awareness.

Following the successful completion of the first phase, graduates will progress to a full-time job at one of ADPower’s subsidiaries, with a continued 12-month “On-the-Job” training and further career development before completing the second phase of the program.

Jasim Hussain Thabet, Chief Executive and Managing Director of ADPower, praised the initiative as a valuable enhancement for both the sector and the graduates: “We are pleased to launch such an immersive learning and career building experience for young Emirati men and women, allowing them to reach their full potential and become effective members in the ongoing development of the utility sector in the UAE through ADPower’s subsidiaries. We look forward to receiving our first cohort of candidates this year, and we wish them all the best in their journey with us.
