Abu Dhabi, 2 November 2019: A collaboration of Water and Electricity companies in Abu Dhabi, have signed an agreement with Abu Dhabi Global Market Academy (ADGM Academy) to host and manage the first phase of the newly-launched Graduate Training Program (GTP), in a ceremony attended by leading officials from both parties.

The signing was executed by Nabil Almessabi, Executive Director of Human Capital & Communications of Abu Dhabi Power Corporation (ADPower), and Hamad Almazrouei as Managing Director of ADGM Academy. The ceremony was also witnessed by the Managing Directors and CEOs of the participating subsidiaries of ADPower: Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC), Al Ain Distribution Company (AADC), Abu Dhabi Transmission and Despatch Company (TRANSCO), Al Mirfa Power Company (AMPC), and Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC), in addition to the senior Abu Dhabi Global Market officials.

The agreement was awarded for the first 6-month phase of an 18-month program that was announced earlier last month. The phase focuses on “Work-readiness for the utility sector”, including an interactive sector overview and building modern workplace professional skills in a series of practical training modules and visits to the participating companies, in addition to an international training opportunity at a leading global water and electricity company. Graduates will also be engaged in relevant community activities with a focus on environmental awareness.

Following the successful completion of the first phase, graduates will progress to a full-time job at one of ADPower’s subsidiaries, with a continued 12-month “On-the-Job” training and further career development before completing the second phase of the program.

Nabil Almessabi, commenting on the appointment of ADGM Academy, said: “We are pleased with the appointment of the Academy and we hope that such an opportunity for early work experience over the course of this program will influence this year’s trainees to pursue meaningful careers within the Utility industry, that will contribute to the development of the sector’s talent pipeline – and more importantly  – the UAE’s continued progress.”

“We at ADGM Academy are proud to collaborate with ADPower’s subsidiaries in their efforts to develop 100 Emirati Graduate young men and women. The Academy has worked closely with the sector companies to develop a bespoke program with specific attention to the skills required for excellence in the Water and Electricity Sector. We will leverage effective learning strategies that will help build professional and cognitive competencies and provide a holistic experience through applied progressive methodologies” said Hamad Al Mazrouei – Director of HR in ADGM & Managing Director of ADGM Academy.
